Tapestries, Gobelin tapestry and wall-hangings
Our collection consists of tapestries and other textile mural objects. Tapestries here mean mural objects that hang freely on the wall. Free here means with some clearance with regard to the wall behind. These tapestries are available in diverse techniques: hand-woven, hand-knotted, painted, needle - and mixed techniques. The woven and knotted tapestries are also called wall hangings. Synonym for hand-woven tapestries is the term Gobelin tapestry.
We have hand-woven Gobelin tapestries by Feijen, Jaeger, Schmidt, and Strýček. Strýček also creates hand-knotted tapestry, that can be used as carpet. Matejat weaves double-sided wall hangings, suitable as installation. Le Ster makes wall-hangings in mixed technique: needle- and painting. The wall-hangings by Strömsdörfer and Vallet are executed in needle-technique (application, patchwork, embroidery). The mounted transparent objects by Vallet can serve as light object.
